I have known you all my life. There are so many fond memories of you. Where to start? That is a hard question.
I remember riding our big wheels, and somehow we always seemed to crash into each other. We made the best cardboard forts in your backyard. It seemed like we had a mansion. How did we get all that cardboard? Climbing up your tree into our “secret” clubhouse and then hanging out there all day talking. Of course, can’t forget all the times we would take our red wagons to the top of Swinton Ave and then rode in them down that big hill, or at least at the time it looked big. I really had no fear when I was with you. You gave me so much strength.
It was always so much fun playing with our Hot Wheels in the dirt, how we had all these little towns and driveways. The street was never calm when we were out playing kick ball and hide and seek.
Thinking about all the things we learned together. To tell time, tie our shoes, to read, to ride our bikes. I sat there and watched you learn how to play the piano. I was your biggest fan.
There was really nothing you couldn’t do. Piano, soccer, dirt bike riding, volleyball and I’m sure things I am forgetting. Best of all you were the very best friend to so many.
Then we became adults. Confided everything to each other. We went through heartaches and happiness. You always had my back and I always had yours. Unbreakable, we were.
You stood next to me when I got married and when I got divorced. You did offer to kick his butt for me, thinking back I should have let you. Then I had my daughter, and you held her with such love. I will always have that picture in my head. Wish she could have known you.
The last years of your life were very hard. You had to endure a lot heartaches and emotional pain. But, you kept on moving right along. Your strength amazed me. Still does.
The last day I saw you was on my daughters 1st birthday. You seemed happy and thinking back, you did want to hold Leah a lot. If that meant anything, I’m not sure. I remember that on that Monday, you left me a wonderful voicemail message, which, I kept for a long time. Then my phone deleted it.
On Thursday February 28, 2008 at 10:00am I got a call from my mom that changed my life forever. She had to be the one to tell me about your accident and death. I went numb, a pit formed in my stomach that stayed for months. Maybe really even years. That day a void has been in my life. I don’t think it can ever be filled. All I can do now is cherish all my memories and the short time I had with you. Thankfully, there are many good memories. There is not one day that goes by that I do not think of you. You were definitely one of a kind. I am so lost without you. I’m trying to find my way in life without you. You left everyone way to soon. You know, you would be 40 this year! I know you are up in heaven having the best days of your new life.
I Love You Kathryn!

Kindergarten
Yes, my baby has started Kindergarten. Where has the time gone? All I know for sure it has gone way to fast. I was more nervous than her. She is such a trooper, so eager to learn and make new friends. I so love that about her.
